Bovey sprang up as a boom town based on rumors that mining was soon going to start. The Bovey City Hall is on the National Register of Historic Places. Bovey is home to the famous photograph, "Grace" which depicts a senior man folding his hands in prayer to give thanks before eating a meal. The picture was taken by Eric Enstrom in 1918 and has been enjoyed throughout the world. The city conducts an annual Farmer's Day Festival over Labor Day weekend.
